Seeing a little daylight today

All those crates in the storeroom are finally beginning to empty, which means the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company's actually moving a little merchandise these days. I found a few more film canisters, this time under some loose floor boards. The one I want to share with all of you today is called "Believers' Guide to Drifting", and according to the label on the film canister, it was based on a true story about a farmer who discovered two balloons and a card tangled in his backyard fence.

The essay for this week recalls the days of school lunch boxes, complete with the treacherous glass-lined Thermos bottles.

The dust is finally beginning to settle.

The dust is finally beginning to settle here at the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company. The word is out on the grand re-opening, and the phone hasn't stopped ringing all morning. I must admit I had my doubts about pursuing this project, but the reception has been very encouraging.

Today's essay is about the Vietnamesque way we used to cook hotdogs when I was a kid growing up in Ohio in the 1970s. What I wouldn't give for just one more electrocuted hotdog after Friday night youth service.

We're still unpacking a few crates and dusting off the shelves, but I think we're ready to provide our first visitors with something good to nibble on. It is our goal to provide at least one essay and an animated piece from the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company vaults each week. There may be times when we may not have much to say, but that doesn't mean we don't care about our customers. We here at the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company tend to believe in the power of listening, anyway.
