During recent renovations of their original building, a collection of films was discovered hidden behind a wall. No one quite knows the history of those silent films, but they have been carefully restored and are now available for viewing here. The Jerusalem Engine Repair Companyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16787674435344662644noreply@blogger.comBlogger3125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2648591904164280624.post-4354210684668227932007-05-23T15:37:00.000-05:002007-05-25T14:58:35.053-05:00Seeing a little daylight todayAll those crates in the storeroom are finally beginning to empty, which means the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company's actually moving a little merchandise these days. I found a few more film canisters, this time under some loose floor boards. The one I want to share with all of you today is called "Believers' Guide to Drifting", and according to the label on the film canister, it was based on a true story about a farmer who discovered two balloons and a card tangled in his backyard fence.<br /><br />The essay for this week recalls the days of school lunch boxes, complete with the treacherous glass-lined Thermos bottles.<br /><br />http://www.quazen.com/Recreation/Humor/In-a-Thermos-No-One-Can-Hear-You-Scream.22717<br /><br /><br /><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" height="402" width="465"><param name="movie" value="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/9265/1179437493.flv&postID=9265&vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333"><param name="quality" value="high"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/9265/1179437493.flv&postID=9265&vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333" quality="high" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="402" width="465"></embed></object>The Jerusalem Engine Repair Companyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16787674435344662644noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2648591904164280624.post-74721199613714189832007-05-17T17:41:00.000-05:002007-05-17T17:56:29.545-05:00The dust is finally beginning to settle. The dust is finally beginning to settle here at the Jerusalem Engine Repair Company. The word is out on the grand re-opening, and the phone hasn't stopped ringing all morning. I must admit I had my doubts about pursuing this project, but the reception has been very encouraging.<br /><br />Today's essay is about the Vietnamesque way we used to cook hotdogs when I was a kid growing up in Ohio in the 1970s. What I wouldn't give for just one more electrocuted hotdog after Friday night youth service.<br /><br />The video from Lulu.tv is "Atticus Rests", a tribute to my late father-in-law William Francis Kitchens.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.quazen.com/Recreation/Humor/The-Execution-of-1970s-Hot-Dogs.22484">http://www.quazen.com/Recreation/Humor/The-Execution-of-1970s-Hot-Dogs.22484</a><br /><br /><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" height="402" width="465"><param name="movie" value="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/8677/1178412493.flv&postID=8677&vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333"><param name="quality" value="high"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/8677/1178412493.flv&postID=8677&vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333" quality="high" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="402" width="465"></embed></object>The Jerusalem Engine Repair Companyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16787674435344662644noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2648591904164280624.post-53164940141366820752007-05-11T15:02:00.000-05:002007-05-11T15:18:44.354-05:00Welcome to the Jerusalem Engine Repair CompanyWe're still unpacking a few crates and dusting off the shelves, but I think we're ready to provide our first visitors with something good to nibble on. It is our goal to provide at least one essay and an animated piece from the <strong>Jerusalem Engine Repair Company</strong> vaults each week. There may be times when we may not have much to say, but that doesn't mean we don't care about our customers. We here at the <strong>Jerusalem Engine Repair Company</strong> tend to believe in the power of listening, anyway.<br /><br />To start this thing off right, here's an essay about the Lawrence Welk Show, and an animated poem called <em>Abandoning Red Hill</em>. We hope you enjoy both of them, and keep checking back for new essays and poems from the <strong>Jerusalem Engine Repair Company</strong> collection.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.quazen.com/Arts/Television/Remembering-Lawrence-Welk.22292">http://www.quazen.com/Arts/Television/Remembering-Lawrence-Welk.22292</a><br /><br /><object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=" height="402" width="465" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"><param name="_cx" value="12303"><param name="_cy" value="10636"><param name="FlashVars" value=""><param name="Movie" value="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/8754/1178573568.flv&postID=8754&amp;vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333"><param name="Src" value="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/8754/1178573568.flv&postID=8754&amp;vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333"><param name="WMode" value="Transparent"><param name="Play" value="-1"><param name="Loop" value="-1"><param name="Quality" value="High"><param name="SAlign" value=""><param name="Menu" value="-1"><param name="Base" value=""><param name="AllowScriptAccess" value=""><param name="Scale" value="ShowAll"><param name="DeviceFont" value="0"><param name="EmbedMovie" value="0"><param name="BGColor" value=""><param name="SWRemote" value=""><param name="MovieData" value=""><param name="SeamlessTabbing" value="1"><param name="Profile" value="0"><param name="ProfileAddress" value=""><param name="ProfilePort" value="0"><param name="AllowNetworking" value="all"><param name="AllowFullScreen" value="false"><embed src="http://www.lulu.tv/wp-content/flash_play/flvplayer-nowings-lulutv-beta6.swf?file=http://static.lulu.tv/wp-content/video2/4461/flash/8754/1178573568.flv&postID=8754&amp;vwidth=480&vheight=360&bgColor=#333333" quality="high" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" height="402" width="465"></embed></object>The Jerusalem Engine Repair Companyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16787674435344662644noreply@blogger.com0
